Best casino games

You know the feeling.

You’ve decided to hop in the car and head to nearest casino. Maybe you’re with friends. Maybe you’re riding solo. Either way, the vibes are immaculate. You’re just a few blocks away. You can see the lights getting brighter. You can almost hear the sound of cards being dealt and slot machines whirring. Premonitions of hitting a jackpot flash before your eyes.

The only thing you haven’t decided on is what game to play first.

Don’t let your bankroll burn a hole in your pocket or give into the urge to sit at the first open seat you spot. Let us direct you instead with this inarguable ranking of the most common games you’ll find at any casino.

The slot machine’s hipster younger brother. The only excuse for playing these is if you don’t have time to actually sit down at a table. And even then, it’s not a great excuse.

Because you need something to keep the gambling juices flowing while you refuel at the casino buffet.

Baccarat is fine. It’s, well, it’s just fine. Not the worst game, but nowhere near the most thrilling. Spend your time elsewhere.

Pai Gow Poker is more fun that it gets credit for, but you’re typically not going to end up at one of these tables unless the games listed below are all full.

The poker room is not for everyone. You’ve got to have a decent bankroll, plenty of time on your hands and a bit of experience. When you enter the poker room it’s essentially a time vortex. Hours feel like minutes and vice versa. Which is to say it’s not for the weak-hearted. Just be careful before you go swimming with the sharks at these tables.

The final entry of our poker options remains the most fun way to play at a casino. It’s fast-paced with plenty of ways to win and you only have to defeat the dealer.

There are two types of roulette players. Those who hit the table as soon as they walk into a casino, and those who make it their last bet of the night.

The game you’re most likely to play once you decide to head towards the casino. It’s the simplest card game to understand and has inspired numerous card-counting scandals, movies and how-to-guides. You can play by the book and have a grand time, or be the person everyone else at the table despises with your recklessness.

The best part about playing blackjack in a casino is the pace. Once you get on a roll, it’s hard to slow down. The worst part is also the pace — a few losing hands right off the bat and you can find yourself bleeding chips in just a few minutes.

There is no better game in a casino than craps. Nothing that evokes more shouting and overall incredible vibes than when the person throwing the dice is hot.

Aside from having some of the best odds of any game on the casino floor, playing craps allows you to bet with or against the shooter and that’s before we get into the myriad of props available (hard eight, anyone?).

It’s also the only game in a casino that makes you feel like you’re playing on a team with the other gamblers. Get hot enough at the craps table and the other players may start tipping you, too. It’s by far the best game and the one most likely to turn a meh night into a memorable one.
